The Conviction of Covenant

When I do meets real life.

Arrives December 2026. Paperback, with a Study Guide and a Leader Guide for small groups.

The Conviction of Covenant paperback by VJ Goodman, a powder blue cover with a navy ink drawing of a couple on a porch swing beside a lake.

Marriage is more than a commitment between two people. It is a covenant meant to reflect the character of Christ.

In The Conviction of Covenant, VJ Goodman invites couples to examine their marriages through the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. With biblical teaching, personal reflection, and practical application, this study explores how the Fruit of the Spirit can shape the way husbands and wives love, communicate, forgive, serve, and remain faithful to one another.

Rather than settling for simply staying married, couples are challenged to pursue marriages marked by spiritual growth, intentional love, and a deeper commitment to God and one another.

Whether read individually, alongside a spouse, or as part of a church study, The Conviction of Covenant offers couples an opportunity to strengthen their relationship while rediscovering the sacred purpose of marriage.

Read it as a couple, or teach it to a group.

The Conviction of Covenant comes as a set: the book, a Study Guide, and a Leader Guide. Zion sells the three together as a bundle for small groups, Sunday school classes, and marriage ministries.

VJ Goodman

Born in Shelby County. Home in Southside.

VJ Goodman, known to family and friends as Val or Valerie, was born and raised in Shelby County, Alabama, and now calls Southside home. She is the wife of Tommy, her true rock star, and together they have four children and six beautiful grandchildren: four here on earth and two in Heaven.

VJ is passionate about leading women, marriages, and families toward the hope, healing, and freedom found in Jesus. Drawing from her own seasons of brokenness, adversity, and restoration, she uses her story to remind others that the very things meant to break us can become the places God uses to build us. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Christian Leadership through Christian Leaders Institute and serves in ministry and nonprofit work within her community.

A devoted Jesus fanatic and self-declared carrier of God's Hope, VJ believes one of Satan's greatest tools is isolation, and one of God's greatest gifts is belonging. Her desire is for people to know they are not alone and to discover the freedom and beauty of an authentic, vulnerable covenant relationship with God. Her mantra is simple:

God isn’t scared of our ugly.
